Core Shamanism -Basic Workshop
An ancient castle. A journey into other worlds.
At Lockenhaus Castle, surrounded by stone, forest and centuries of history, we invite you to a basic workshop exploring some of the fundamental techniques of shamanic practice.
Lockenhaus is one of the oldest fortified sites in the region. Parts of the castle date back to the 12th century, and within its walls are extraordinary medieval spaces: a subterranean cult room carved into the rock, a Gothic Knights’ Hall and a 13th-century castle chapel.
Within this setting, we will explore the three-layered cosmos of parallel worlds, a concept found in several animistic cultures across the globe.
Through light trance and guided shamanic journeying, we will explore these parallel realities and seek connection with personal helping spirits. We will learn ways of receiving information that may support healing, self-healing, deeper understanding and personal development.
This workshop will not turn anyone into a shaman.
Instead, it offers an introduction to some basic shamanic techniques and an opportunity to experience this way of working directly.
During the workshop, each participant will also have the opportunity to discover a personal symbol — something that may continue to offer guidance and support beyond the seminar itself.
And throughout our time together, we will remember something essential:
Nature teaches more about shamanism and spirituality than any human ever can.
Core Shamanism - Basic Workshop with Kai Uwe Faust at Lockenhaus Castle

This beginners’ workshop introduces universal, near-universal and common principles and techniques in shamanism, humankind’s oldest healing tradition. Participants will learn the fundamentals of shamanic techniques following the basic structure of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies (FFS) founded by Michael Harner. Participants will be taught to use traditional shamanic journeys to meet their allies, helping spirits and to reconnect with the original strength of our ancestors.
Shamanism has been practiced by human beings around the world for millennia. It is the oldest tradition of healing and offers individuals a way to rediscover the bond with the spirits that has been with us since birth. To walk this path is to remember that we are never alone. Our allies, our guardian spirits, and the wisdom of those who came before us, walk beside us still.
Core Shamanism is not defined by any particular ethnic group nor by any particular ideology.
LOCATION
Lockenhaus Castle in Austria is one of the oldest fortifications in the country. It was built in serval stages. In the 12th century, the first part, the upper castle (Hochburg) with its pentagonal Romanesque bell tower (keep) was constructed. At first, it was known by the name Leuka, derived from Laurentuis.
FACILITATOR
The workshop is facilitated by Kai Uwe-Faust. Since 1999, Kai has studied practical shamanism with the Foundation of Shamanic Studies (FSS). In addition, he has studied under Olaf Bernhardt (Schamanismus e.V, Germany, which he currently is attached to), Tom Cowan (Society for Shamanic Practice, US) and Sandra Ingerman (US). He has assisted with and faciliated numerous workshops. Additionally, he has received teachings in shamanic botany with Maestro Erdinjo and Maestro Eligio (Arkana Spiritual Centre, Peru).
ORGANIZER
My name is Sabrina Moser and I met Kai during his second workshop in Norway where I was a participant. After this Workshop i was inspired to follow the shamanic path and completed the teacher training in Germany at Schamanismus e.V., where i am teacher now and hold few classes during the year for Core Shamanism Basic Workshops.
I got my Teacher Training Certificate in May 2025
PRACTICAL DETAILS
This Basic Workshop is a prerequisite for all further workshops, so upon workshop completion, participants will receive a certificate from Schamanismus e.V.

From the date of registration, you have 14 days to pay half of the amount. After the initial payment, you have one month to pay the remaining deposit.
